The geography of oud is a geography of scent. Each producing region imparts distinctive characteristics to its agarwood — from the cooling mint of Vietnam to the jammy sweetness of Cambodia.

Vietnam

Vietnamese oud is the gold standard. Known for its cooling, menthol-like top notes and profound spiritual depth. The best comes from Nha Trang and the central highlands.

Cambodia

Cambodian oud is famous for its red fruit sweetness — think dried cherries, dates, and plum. The Pursat region produces the most sought-after specimens.

Laos

Lao oud bridges the gap between Vietnamese and Cambodian profiles — sweet-earthy with green, camphorous overtones. Less known but highly prized by connoisseurs.

Indonesia

Indonesian oud (particularly from Papua) tends to be earthier, darker, and more medicinal — notes of damp soil, tobacco, and leather dominate.
